OminousNefarious If you really want to upgrade the WL toys 979b you should start with a wltoys979 -390 motor mount then get a 2838 to 2845 size motor in the 4200 KV to 4700 KV range. You don't want to use your current motor mount because it's for a 540-3650 size motor which is too large if you plan on using a brushless motor, it's too much power and we'll just make your car weigh down and raise your center of gravity causing really bad handling! Please trust me in that a 2845 size motor is already more power than the car needs Two fantastic ESCz are the quality Flycolor Lightning series 45a ESC which is your best and smallest ESC for that car, has plenty of programmable options and you dont need a card to do it. The Surpass 35a esc is another great choice with the main 5 program options you could need. DONT GET THE HOBBYWING 16BL30 as it cannot handle a 2838 to 2845 motor, it can only handle 24xx size motors and so will overheat. DONT GET A 24XX size motor as it cant handle the car and it will overheat. You wont save money getting a 24xx motor! if you really want to build the car right you should get metal gear differentials and metal Center Drive Shaft with metal drive shaft bevel gears. Then you will need a sub micro servo, a great choice is the AGFrc B13DLM V2, its very fast, centers perfectly, strong, has titanium gears and is pc programmable. OminousNefarious with the original transmitters that came with the A9x9 model 1:18 scale cars (with flame stickers) you would 1.) hold the steering wheel full left or right 2.) turn on transmitter while continuing to hold the steering wheel full left or right 3.) turn on the esc-reciever combo while still holding steering wheel 4.) turn the steering wheel full in the opposite direction that you originally were holding it. This completed the binding process. But the 144001 manual does not have a binding procedure, the internet as far as I can tell has no information on a 144001 binding procedure, and there have been no email answers from XK-WLToys Support about any binding procedures.

You will need four 8mm wheel hex to replace the 7mm wheel hex that comes standard in the WLToys a9×9 series of rc cars. 8mm Wheel hex are easy to find if you know where to look.
