This would be a nice project to learn soldering with. They even provide space on the PCB labeled “Practice” where the student can build connections that don’t connect to anything. And even though the board has enough detail printed on it for someone with a little experience to follow, it’s not enough for a raw beginner to be successful. If there is a teacher to explain which lead of an LED is positive and other things like that, well OK. But not everyone has a teacher, or listens to the ones that they do have. And rather than providing 4 resistors where only one is needed, I’d provide the choice between a white LED and an Ultraviolet LED. That makes the resulting torch / flashlight much more interesting. (And that's the way I built mine).
