This is a great little HT that operates on the 2m and 70cm bands. The price is the other incredible thing. The kit that BG sells here is rather barebones - you get one antenna, desktop charger, and an 1800 mAh battery. Other kits include the programming cable or a headset -- but to be honest, it's better to get those separately. One thing to buy would be a USB charging cable - especially if you're a prepper. At some point, it's handy to get the programming cable (which you can get on BG) and download the free CHIRP. This will make it easier to program the HT. And please do get your ham license, it's only $15 and the 35 question test is ridiculously easy in the USA if you download some of the free testing apps on the various app stores.
