Competent little sensor, switches quickly and in a repeatable manner. Beam acceptance angle is about +/- 45 degrees. Blurb says sensing distance is 2 - 80 cm. I think this should read 2 - 80 mm. Note that this unit is sensitive to ambient light and heat sources. If this is a problem I recommend the Banggood "DIY IR Infrared Sensor Switch Kits Infrared Proximity Switch kit" which overcomes these problems.
