Im using it for 2S lipo 7.4V - > 12V booster. It will give you 1.6A tops at 12V while 8V @ 2.5A is the source. It will get hot while performing this way. But for 10W led strobe this is ideal as its self current limiting feature is good enough to drive a 12V 1A "10W" led directly for strobing purposes.
